Images on e-mails from within the Traveller system.

With the increasing amount of clients who book on-line, or for those who simply request their documents to be e-mailed, Traveller has been developed to cope with graphical attachments on documents such as receipts, statements itineraries etc... Experimentation is required to ensure that the results produced in Traveller and the results E-mails are the same.

Graphical attachments may include items such as the company logo, or footer information. These attachments should be placed in document designer on the relevant documents, care should be taken when inserting graphics into any application, it is often important to realise the size of a file is greatly effected by the graphics dimensions (Size) and it's format (File type) Ideally the image should be as small as possible without effecting quality. This is especially important when e-mailing documents for 2 reasons :

1) The image of the document is saved inside the Traveller system, if the image is too large then you may find yourself running out of disk space in a very short space of time. JPEG images go some way to solving this.

2) More importantly, the client will receive this document over the Internet, if the file size is too large then they may either a) not receive the file at all due to file size restrictions on their account or b) be unable or unwilling to download such a large file (note – this will be especially true if the client is on a dial up connection).
Image file formats is a subject that could be described in great detail, however is not explicitly a Traveller support issue.

The pointers above if followed should guide the intermediate user but if more information is required then it is suggested that research or training is carried out. No set-up will required for this feature, it will automatically be used when an e-mail is sent, the attached file is a Microsoft Word Document, readable by most common word processors.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Users of older dot matrix printers should note that dot matrix printers are not advisable for the production of graphics or anything other than standard (non-TrueType) fonts. Whilst printing these is possible it is extremely slow and of poor quality

E-mailing images will only work for images embedded into Traveller, not linked.
