Introduction
SABS the Micros|Travel Search Availability and Booking System is a powerful search engine and booking tool for holiday and flight only availability based around a vast high-speed database. This provides access to over 12 million flights and holiday deals with a huge range of operators.
SABS provides comprehensive information for many tour operators, which is constantly updated with availability using the latest Internet technology and direct feeds from tour operators.
SABS is designed for use within the travel agency where it can hugely reduce the average sale time by replacing multiple ‘individual’ Viewdata searches with a single enquiry to the SABS system.
The SABS system will return results from two sources:
CACHE – this is a huge database of holidays and flights, that is updated regularly with information provided by tour operators.
EXTENDED SEARCH – this is a live search with results coming in from Viewdata and direct feeds

Using SABS Agent
Access SABS using the address provided on your set up documents.
Type your agent ID and password into the relevant box and click on the ‘Login’ button, this will take you through to the default ‘All Availability Search’ form.

From here you can select the dates required for the holiday. The preferred board is set to ‘ALL’ as default, however you can be more specific and request: SC, BB, HB, FB, AI, FO, 1-2* or 3-4* from the drop-down menu. The departure point (‘From’) and destination (‘To’) can be selected from a grouping, or by choosing the 3 letter airport codes, i.e. MAN for Manchester Airport.
If you only require flight only then ensure you choose FO as this ensures the search is quick and efficient.
Searching
There are two types of searches available.
The default display order
will show in date of departure order (initial sort denoted by
)
and then price order for your preferred board (subsort denoted by
).
You can change the sort orders by selecting the triangle above your desired
heading.
The results will show all the tour operators that have returned results for your search criteria. Clicking on a tour operator logo will display only their results. Clicking the ‘SABS’ logo will show all the results again.
Information from these search results can be expanded by clicking on a specific price, or alternatively selecting one or any number of rows/columns (up to a maximum of 20 cells). Your selections will then be highlighted in red. When you are happy with your selections, click on ‘Expand Selection’.

You will now see more details from your selection, along with further prices that have been chosen for the date and routing. If you hover your mouse over any result line you will see more information for the holiday or flight. The information can be viewed in a larger display if any result line is clicked.
On the extreme right of
each result there is a symbol:
displayed. This symbol indicates that you are able to book via Viewdata. When
this is clicked a pop up screen opens showing Viewdata, SABS will log onto the
tour operator, enter the ABTA no and password details then navigate to a point
where you can continue with the final stages of the booking. If at any time
you want to go back to the search form, simply click on the ‘Availability’ button
in the top left region of the screen.
Using Viewdata
Surrounding the Viewdata Screen are buttons, you must use these to utilise Viewdata effectively.

When accessing Viewdata you have the functionality to store the last 100 pages that you have seen. You can scroll backwards and forwards through these saved pages to view the data by using the arrow buttons
Once the 100-page limit has been reached the older pages will be over-written automatically. It is also possible to copy information from the pages using the ‘Copy’ button, which can then be "Pasted" onto a document/email as you require.

If you want to print any of the pages, click the print button on the button of the screen.
Note that selecting print from the menu drop down in Windows will cause the image to be printed in colour.

If you have finished with a particular company press "close" to stop the connection in Viewdata. You can choose another company by clicking ‘Operators’ alternatively if you have lost connectivity select ‘Reconnect’.
