This document is intended as a technical reference and guide for Micros installation engineers. Please do not attempt to convert any data unless you understand the full procedure and Traveller data structures.
You will need :
Voyager Data.
Voyager Data is held in MDB files (Microsoft Database files).
V2TImport.exe.
Voyager 2 Traveller Import is the program that will parse and translate the data found in the Voyager tables into Traveller Tables, it attempts to take as much data as possible, make sense of that information and places it in corresponding structures within Traveller. Its not perfect as the two systems are technically quite different, however, expect data like names / addresses / additional passengers and basic costing values to be accurate.
RDC2.exe.
RDC2 is a data conversion program which is used in the tidy up process.
TidyUp.SQLs.
TidyUp contains a number of SQL scripts which will clean up the imported data after insertion. As we will be sending optimized SQL direct to advantage these will execute fairly quickly, especially when compared to running them on a per record basis in V2TImport.exe.
Advantage database v7.1 or above.
The tools supplied above will ONLY work on a system with Advantage 7.1 or above, this is because of the technology and functions used in the conversion.
Microsoft Access.
Presently opening the voyager data has only been tested with Microsoft Access 97, it is likely that future versions of access will also work but it is suggested that when an import is attempted that you work from a verified backup and not any live data. Microsoft Access may wish to convert the database into a new format which could break the existing functionality within Voyager.
Advantage Data Architect v7.1 or above.
To perform some of the Voyager table imports into Advantage Format you will need the Architect. A version matching the server version is recommended.
The import process has been split into 5 steps below, if this is the first time you have performed an import it is suggested you carefully follow the steps in order. They are listed below however for reference.
Step 1 : Extracting Tables from Voyager
Step 2 : Importing Tables into Architect
Step 3 : Using V2TImport
Step 4 : Cleaning up
Step 5 : Examining Data
