A new installation of Traveller would normally require interaction with Micros|Travel and involve either remote assistance or the presence of a qualified Micros|Travel Engineer. Under the circumstance whereby an existing customer wishes to upgrade a server for example, or move the database to a new machine, prior consultation with Micros|Travel Support is highly recommended to ensure a smooth transition.
If the installation of Traveller is undertaken by the client full responsibility lies with the client in regard to all aspects of the Traveller Database. The tips and resources outlined below serve to aid this process but are provided entirely 'as is'. If you are unsure of what you are doing, stop.
1) BACKUP your data, this should be a daily procedure anyway, rotated on at least 3 disks / tapes which are kept off site. Before attempting any major operation regarding the reinstallation or relocation of software on the Traveller Server make a safe copy of all your Data.
2) Software, ensure you have all your software disks present, specifically Traveller normally requires the Advantage Database Server This software has Serial numbers and activation keys, if you do not have this information you will encounter problems during the installation. If you are reinstalling Windows, ensure you have the required software and knowledge to do so before continuing. Micros|Travel will not aid in this area without charge.
3) Be aware that all client machines will be configured to search for the Traveller Database in the 'ADS.INI' configuration file, if the machine changes, IP or otherwise then the client machines will cease to work.
4) Associated libraries, such as ACE32.DLL will be required to run Traveller, these can be copied from other machines or acquired through the use of a RT_SETUP.EXE file found in the main servers data set. This file copies all libraries involved in the running of Traveller to the current machine.
