As you are no doubt aware Microsoft has not supported Windows 98/ME or 2000
since 2002 and has withdrawn support on Windows 2000 in June of 2002.
This means that patches for Windows problems are no longer available and the successful running of applications on these versions cannot be guaranteed.
For further details on all Microsoft products please view the following website

In the main this has had little impact on the majority of our clients and we
have continued and will continue to offer support for issues that may have arisen
from time to time.
It is our view that Windows 2000 users should see little immediate impact, when loading new applications, but that Windows 98 users should consider upgrading their operating systems and supporting hardware.
Please note that this is NOT a notice of termination of support of our applications on these platforms but advice that, should problems occur then there may not be a practical solution to them.
It is therefore our recommendation that you consider budgeting for a hardware/operating system upgrade to ensure the successful running of all of the applications you utilize on your desktops. For our part we will continue to test our products on the above platforms and to endeavor to ensure that no issues arise due to incompatibility of the products/platforms. Obviously we cannot give any assurances re other applications from other suppliers.
Please be advised that your account managers are available to help you review your platforms and establish both costs for budgeting and to map out the best route for you to take.
