From time to time the need may arise to reinstall or install traveller onto a new or existing workstation. Whilst the data is held on the server the traveller application which gives the agent access to this must be installed locally. To install Traveller the following steps must be carried out.
1) Locate the "SetupWS.exe" file on the server, this is normally found a couple of levels above your main data. I. E \\Server\Share\Conctrav\SetupWS.exe configurations differ from site to site.
2) Ensure that the ADS.ini in this folder is configured ready for delivery on the client machine(s). The ADS.INI is a configuration file that points Traveller to the database server in addition to specifying how the connection is achieved. If the ADS.INI is not configured correctly then Traveller will not work.
3) Launch SetupWS.exe, follow on screen prompts - the installation is very simple and in nearly every circumstance you do not need to change any of the default options. One thing to take note of is that on the 3rd screen it will notify you of the ads.ini it will copy over, ensure this is correct before proceeding.
4) Once traveller is installed close the installer and locate the new shortcut on your desktop. Double click and Traveller will launch, if it fails to boot on your first attempt try again; on occasion Traveller will determine that a newer version is available and will update itself automatically, when this happens Traveller terminates to allow this operation to occur.
